Frontier Airlines Launches New Direct Service From San Juan to Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic

Frontier Airlines has today announced the launch of their inaugural nonstop flight between San Juan, Puerto Rico and Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic.  Celebrating the new route launch, the carrier is offering introductory one-way fares from $99 (T&Cs apply).

On Thursday (June 19, 2025), Frontier Airlines announced the launch of their inaugural nonstop flight between Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (SJU) in San Juan, Puerto Rico today with the launch of new nonstop service to Gregorio Luperón International Airport in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic (POP).  The route will now operate twice weekly with introductory one-way fares from $99 (T&Cs apply).  With this new route, Frontier now serves 24 destinations nonstop from Puerto Rico.


In Thursday’s announcement, Frontier Airlines’ VP – Network and Operations Design, Josh Flyr, said,


“This new route brings yet another convenient and affordable travel option for Dominicans traveling to Puerto Rico, Puerto Ricans exploring the northern coast of the Dominican Republic, and tourists looking to soak up the sun in the Caribbean this summer.  We are proud to serve as a partner in the tourism industry vital to Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, and the many other Caribbean destinations we now serve.”

Frontier has introduced ‘The New Frontier’ which provides more transparency through upfront pricing and options to meet the needs of individual guests.  The enhancements include no change or cancellation fees, a ‘For Less’ Price Guarantee and longer flight credit windows, among others.  The carrier also now offers UpFront Plus, a new upgraded seating option with extra leg and elbowroom, plus an empty middle seat, in the first two rows of the aircraft.  Debuting in late 2025, Frontier will begin offering First Class seating on every flight, combining unmatched comfort and space at affordable prices.
