On Thursday (May 4, 2023), Frontier Airlines announced a major expansion of service to and from Puerto Rico. Today, the carrier launched new service from San Juan (SJU) to Cleveland (CLE), Baltimore (BWI), Chicago Midway (MDW), and Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW). Frontier has also launched direct service from Aguadilla (BQN) to Tampa (TPA), as well as from Ponce (PSE) to Orlando (MCO). Tomorrow (May 5th), the carrier will launch new service between San Juan and Detroit (DTW), followed by flights from San Juan to Cancún, which start on May 11, 2023. With the network expansion, Frontier now offers 20 nonstop routes from Puerto Rico, more than any other airline.

In today’s announcement, Frontier Airlines’ Senior Vice President of Commercial, Daniel Shurz, said,

“Our major expansion in Puerto Rico is connecting the island to some of the most popular destinations across the United States, as well as Cancún. In addition to bringing increased tourism to the island, Puerto Ricans now have more access to Frontier’s ‘Low Fares Done Right’ to visit friends and family across the U.S.”

Also commenting on Frontier’s expansion in Puerto Rico, Aerostar Puerto Rico’s CEO, Jorge Hernandez, said,

“We are pleased to know that the largest expansion of the airline in its history takes place in Puerto Rico, with eight new nonstop routes to seven U.S. cities and one service to Mexico, which will use Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport as a gateway. We congratulate Frontier Airlines on expanding its operations. This growth will translate into more flight options for travelers and, therefore, more jobs and commercial activity at the airport, for the benefit of Puerto Rico.”

To qualify for the promotional fares, tickets must be purchased by 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time on May 9, 2023 for travel on select days through June 28, 2023. A three-day advance purchase is required, but a roundtrip booking is not.

Frontier Airlines (NASDAQ: ULCC) is committed to “Low Fares Done Right.” The Denver-based carrier operates 120 Airbus A320 Family aircraft and has the largest Airbus A320neo fleet in the U.S., delivering the highest level of fuel-efficiency and noise footprint reduction compared to previous generation models. Frontier offers customers the ability to customize travel to their needs and budget, including base fares, a-la-carte options and one low-priced bundle called the WORKS.

Frontier’s commitment to families includes their ‘Discount Den’ travel club which allows children 14 years and younger to fly free on qualifying flights. The airline’s family friendly FRONTIER Miles loyalty program allows guests to earn one mile for every mile flown and permits the family pooling of miles, making it easier to earn rewards. Frontier currently has over 230 new Airbus aircraft on order, which will help the airline continue to deliver on their mission of providing affordable travel across America.
