Frontier Airlines Expands Tampa Base With Five New Routes; Launches Six New Routes to Cancun

Frontier Airlines is launching new service from their Tampa base to Bloomington, IL, Columbus, OH, Green Bay, WI, Rochester, NY and New York-LGA. The carrier is also adding new Cancun service from Baltimore, Boston, Columbus, Detroit, Minneapolis and Raleigh.

On Tuesday (September 28, 2021), Frontier Airlines announced the expansion of service from their new Tampa base with nonstop flights to five additional destinations, including Bloomington (Illinois), Columbus (Ohio), Green Bay (Wisconsin), Rochester and LaGuardia (New York). With the added service, Frontier now offers 26 nonstop routes from Tampa International Airport (TPA) in Florida. Celebrating the new routes, the airline is offering introductory one-way fares from only $39. To qualify for the promotional fares, tickets must be purchased by 11:59 p.m. EDT on October 3, 2021 for travel on select days from December 2, 2021 and February 16, 2022. Blackout dates include December 22, 2021 through January 4, 2022 (roundtrip purchase not required).

In Tuesday’s announcement, Frontier Airlines’ Senior Vice President of Commercial, Daniel Shurz, said,


“We’re excited to grow in our newest base city, Tampa, with five new nonstop routes beginning right in time for the winter travel season. Tampa continues to shine, literally and figuratively, as a destination people want to visit, especially in the winter months. Moreover, this new service is a convenient, affordable option for Tampa Bay residents to take a trip and explore historic U.S. cities, including Columbus and New York City.”


Also commenting on Frontier’s Tampa network expansion, Tampa International Airport’s CEO, Joe Lopano, added,


“Tampa International Airport welcomes this expanding partnership with Frontier, which clearly recognizes the Tampa Bay area as one of the top places in the country to live, work and visit. Not only do these routes add new low-cost connections for our local residents, but they bring more northern and Midwestern visitors to our award-winning beaches, hotels, restaurants and attractions.”

In a separate press release today (September 28, 2021), Frontier Airlines announced the launch of six new nonstop routes to Cancun international Airport (CUN) this fall with service from Baltimore, Boston, Columbus, Detroit, Minneapolis, and Raleigh-Durham. With the added flights, Frontier now offers 19 nonstop routes to Cancun, more than any other U.S. airline. Celebrating the new Cancun routes, Frontier is offering introductory fares from only $89. To qualify for the promotional fares, tickets must be purchased by 11:59 p.m. EDT on October 3, 2021 for travel on select days from December 16, 2021 and February 16, 2022. Blackout dates include December 22, 2021 through January 4, 2022 (roundtrip purchase not required).
