flydubai to Launch Service to Sohag via Sharm El Sheikh From July 25, 2021

flydubai will launch three weekly flight to the Egyptian city of Sohag via Sharm El Sheikh from July 25, 2021. The new service complements existing flights to Alexandria and Sharm El Sheikh.

On Wednesday (July 14, 2021), flydubai announced the launch of three weekly flights to Sohag International Airport (HMB) in Egypt via Sharm El Sheikh from July 25, 2021. The new service expands the carrier’s offer to three destinations in Egypt including Alexandria Borg El Arab International Airport (HBE) and Sharm El Sheikh International Airport (SSH). Sohag is an important governorate and capital city in Upper Egypt and is home to a numerous monuments, monasteries and museums. Flights to Sohag will depart Dubai International Airport’s (DXB) Terminal 2 on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.

In today’s announcement, flydubai’s Chief Commercial Officer, Hamad Obaidalla, said,


“Egypt is a very important market for flydubai and has a very special place in our journey. Alexandria was among the first routes we operated to in 2009. We are very pleased to see our presence in Egypt grow and we would like to thank the authorities for their ongoing support. flydubai is committed to supporting the tourism and trade links between our two countries. We look forward to the start of operations to Sohag which is going to be very popular among our passengers from the UAE and the region.”


Also commenting on the new route, flydubai’s Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations – UAE, GCC, Africa and the Indian Subcontinent, Sudhir Sreedharan, added,


“With demand for travel returning we are focused on enabling our passengers to travel with ease to more places around the flydubai network. Sohag is another exciting destination for our passengers to visit whether to go back home to see friends and family or to explore the many historic attractions in the city.”


With the launch of flights to Ankara, Budapest, Ljubljana, Salzburg, Tirana and Warsaw, flydubai’s network has grown to over 95 destinations. The carrier also offers summer seasonal service to Bodrum, Trabzon, Batumi, Mykonos, Santorini and Tivat.


flydubai was founded in 2009 and currently serves over 95 destinations in 46 countries across Africa, Central Asia, the Caucasus, Europe, the GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council), the Middle East and the Indian subcontinent. The Dubai-based carrier has opened more than 70 new routes that previously did not have direct air links to Dubai. flydubai operates a single fleet type of 50 Boeing 737s including 36 Next Generation 737-800s, 11 737 MAX 8s and three 737 MAX 9s. The airline has carried over 75 million passengers since 2009.
