flydubai will expand their European network with new service to Basel, Riga, Tallinn and Vilnius. With the new routes, the carrier’s European network will grow to 44 destinations in 21 countries.
On Wednesday (May 8, 2024), flydubai announced an expansion of their European network with new direct service from Dubai to Basel, Riga, Tallinn and Vilnius. Flights to EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg (BSL) will start on August 2, 2024, marking the carrier’s first destination in Switzerland. New, direct flights to Riga International Airport (RIX) in Latvia will commence on October 11th, while flight to Tallinn Airport (TLL) in Estonia and Vilnius International Airport (VNO) in Lithuania will launch on October 12, 2024.
In Wednesday’s announcement, flydubai’s SVP – Commercial Operations and E-commerce, Jeyhun Efendi, said,
“Over the years, we have remained dedicated to opening up underserved destinations and we are pleased to reaffirm this with the addition of Basel, Riga, Tallinn and Vilnius. We have already seen strong demand ahead of the route launches and we are confident that our new services will offer more people a convenient and reliable travel experience through Dubai’s aviation hub. As we approach the start of these flights, we look forward to offering our passengers from the UAE, GCC and around the flydubai network with more opportunities to explore these beautiful destinations.”

Business Class guests traveling with flydubai can enjoy lie-flat seats, internationally-inspired menus, and hours of immersive entertainment, while Economy Class guests will enjoy seats that have been designed to optimize space and comfort. Since the beginning of 2024, flydubai has launched new service to Mombasa (Kenya), Langkawi and Penang (Malaysia), as well as Al Jouf and The Red Sea in Saudi Arabia. The airline will also resume summer seasonal service to Batumi, Corfu, Dubrovnik, Mykonos, Tivat and more.
Since commencing operations in 2009, flydubai has grown their network to 129 destinations across 58 countries in Africa, Central Asia, the Caucuses, Central and South-East Europe, the GCC and the Middle East, and the Indian Subcontinent. The carrier has opened more than 75 new routes that did not previously have direct air links to Dubai or were not served by a UAE carrier. flydubai operates a single fleet type of 86 Boeing airplanes, including Boeing 737-800NGs, 737-8 MAX, and 737-9 MAX models, and also has an order backlog of over 100 737s. At the Dubai Airshow in November 2023, the carrier ordered 30 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners, their first widebody jet order ever.
