flydubai inaugurated new daily service to Islamabad and Lahore in Pakistan on Monday, July 1st, 2024. When the flights touched down at the respective airports, they were greeted with a traditional water cannon salute.
On Tuesday (July 2, 2024), flydubai announced the launch of their inaugural flights from Dubai to Islamabad and Lahore in Pakistan, which took to the skies on Monday (July 1st). The routes will now operate daily with a Boeing 737. Upon arrival at Islamabad International Airport (ISB) and Allama Iqbal International Airport (LHE), each flight was greeted with a traditional water cannon salute followed by a warm welcome by airport officials.
Commenting on the launch of the new routes, flydubai’s SVP – Commercial Operations (UAE,GCC, Africa and the Indian Subcontinent), Sudhir Sreedharan, said,
“At flydubai, we are always looking for opportunities to better serve our customers with more options for travel and we are pleased to have launched our daily services to Islamabad and Lahore. The commencement of our 14 weekly flights to these two points will enable more of our passengers to enjoy direct access between the UAE and Pakistan.”

In addition to Islamabad and Lahore, flydubai’s Pakistan network also includes service to Faisalabad, Karachi, Multan, Quetta and Sialkot.

Since commencing operations in 2009, flydubai has grown their network to 125 destinations across 58 countries in Africa, Central Asia, the Caucuses, Central and South-East Europe, the GCC and the Middle East, and the Indian Subcontinent. The carrier has opened more than 75 new routes that did not previously have direct air links to Dubai or were not served by a UAE carrier. flydubai operates a single fleet type of 88 Boeing airplanes, including Boeing 737-800NGs, 737-8 MAX, and 737-9 MAX models, and also has an order backlog of over 100 737s. At the Dubai Airshow in November 2023, the carrier ordered 30 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners, their first widebody jet order ever.
