flydubai Expands European Network With Service to Malta and Salzburg

The carrier will start flights to Malta and resume flights to Catania from May 12th, along with operations to Naples starting May 13th. flydubai will also become the first UAE carrier offering direct flights to Salzburg starting May 13, 2021.

Today (January 25, 2021) flydubai announced an expansion of their European network with new service to Malta and Salzburg. The airline will start flights to Malta on May 12th and will become the first UAE carrier to offer direct flights to Salzburg from May 13, 2021. flydubai will also resume operations to Catania on May 12th and Naples starting May 13th. The carrier has grown their network to over 65 destinations as countries continue to gradually lift travel restrictions. With the new and resumed service to Catania, Malta, Naples and Salzburg, the airline’s European network has grown to 20 destinations including Belgrade, Bucharest, Helsinki, Istanbul, Krakow, Prague, and Sofia. Commenting on today’s announcement, flydubai’s Chief Executive Officer, Ghaith Al Ghaith, said,


“With the start of flights to Catania, Malta, Naples and Salzburg we continue to gradually grow our network catering to an increasing demand for travel, as more passengers return to the skies and more countries ease restrictions on international air travel. Since commencing operations in 2009, we have been committed to opening up previously underserved markets and the launch of our latest routes in Europe demonstrates our continuous efforts to offer more people the opportunity to travel more often while creating free flows of travel, trade, and tourism.”


Also speaking on the carrier’s European route expansion, flydubai’s Senior Vice President – Commercial Operations and E-Commerce, Jeyhun Efendi, added,


“With the addition of these four routes to our network we offer more choice for travel from the UAE and the GCC, while providing passengers from Austria, Italy and Malta the opportunity to connect onwards to 155 destinations through Dubai’s international travel hub. Whether customers choose to travel in Business Class or Economy Class they can look forward to the convenience of direct connections as well as a comfortable onboard travel experience as they start their journey. We look forward to launching these flights in May.”


Flights to Malta International Airport (MLA) and Catania International Airport (CTA) will be offered four times weekly from May 12th, while flights to Naples International Airport (NAP) will be offered three-times weekly from May 13th. Service between Dubai International Airport (DXB) and Salzburg Airport (SZG) will be operated four-times weekly starting Maty 13th. Emirates will codeshare on these routes and the flights will operate from Terminal 3 at DXB, offering seamless connections to 155 destinations on both networks including Australia, China, the Indian Ocean, Japan and South Asia.
