On Saturday (February 5, 2022), Flair Airlines, Canada’s everyday low fare carrier, announced the launch of new service to Cancun and Los Cabos in Mexico. The airline will offer one weekly flight to Cancun International Airport (CUN) from Kitchener-Waterloo (YKF) and Ottawa (YOW), as well as one weekly flight to Los Cabos (SJD) from Abbotsford (YXX), Edmonton (YEG) and Vancouver (YVR). Nonstop service to Cancun from Ottawa International Airport started on Saturday, February 5th and from Waterloo International Airport on Sunday, February 6, 2022. Flights to Los Cabos from Abbotsford Airport, Edmonton International Airport and Vancouver International Airport started on February 5, 2022.

In Saturday’s announcement, Flair Airlines’ Chief Commercial Officer, Garth Lund, said,

“Expanding to Mexico is part of Flair’s exciting growth strategy and we're very happy to be launching service there. Canadians are tired of the ice and snow, and our affordable fares will help make it possible to take a trip. With one-way fares starting at $109, we’re making it easier than ever for Canadians to chase the sun in Mexico.”

Also commenting on the new routes to Mexico, Flair Airlines’ Chief Executive Officer, Stephen Jones, added,

“Service launch to Mexico couldn’t come at a better time, honestly. We deployed a proprietary algorithm to determine that Canadians want to escape the cold, right now!”
