Fiji Airways Announces the Appointment of Captain Etika Tuisue as Chief Pilot and Flight Operations Officer

Fiji Airways has announced the appointment of company veteran Captain Etika Tuisue as Chief Pilot and Flight Operations Officer, effective August 1, 2025.

On Friday (August 1, 2025), Fiji Airways announced the appointment of Captain Etika Tuisue as Chief Pilot and Flight Operations Officer, effective immediately. Captain Tuisue brings over 20 years of aviation experience to the role, having served with distinction across various leadership and training capacities within the airline. In his new position, Captain Tuisue will oversee pilot operations, while playing a key role in managing flight safety, crew performance, and operational procedures. Additionally, he will be part of the Executive Leadership Team and advise and support fleet expansion, pilot development and ongoing operational efficiency initiatives. This appointment reflects Fiji Airways’ commitment to safety, operational excellence, and the development of local aviation talent.
In Friday’s announcement, Fiji Airways’ Managing Director and CEO, Andre Viljoen, said,
Captain Tuisue’s deep understanding of our operations, his leadership on the flight deck, and his passion for mentoring future aviators makes him the ideal person to take on this critical role. This appointment also highlights our ongoing commitment to recognising and elevating exceptional Fijian talent to senior leadership positions.”
Also commenting on his new role as Fiji Airways’ Chief Pilot and Flight Operations Officer, Captain Etika Tuisue said,

Since joining Fiji Airways in 2004, Captain Tuisue has held a variety of senior leadership roles within the airline’s Flight Operations Department, including Manager Flight Operations Training, Fleet Manager and Deputy Chief Pilot. His appointment comes at a time of growth and transformation for Fiji Airways, as the carrier expands their global footprint, while enhancing operational capabilities. This leadership transition is part of Fiji Airways’ continued efforts to build a future-focused, world class airline that connects Fiji to the world with hospitality and pride.
