On Monday (January 9, 2023), EVA Air announced the launch of new daily service between Taipei and Clark International Airport in the Philippines starting March 30, 2023. Clark will become the airline’s third destination in the Philippines joining existing service to Manila and Cebu. By the end of March 2023, EVA Air will operate 35 weekly flights between Taiwan and the Philippines. The Taipei-Clark route will be operated with an Airbus A321. Clark International Airport is approximately 80 kilometers (50 miles) from Manila Airport, giving customers an alternative way to fly to Taiwan, as well as onward connections via Taipei to destinations in Asia, Australia, Europe and North America.
Additionally, Clark service reduces travel time from the airport to popular northern Luzon Island beaches and resorts via the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX). The new gateway provides another option for Taiwan-Philippines travelers, and should also prove attractive to American and European passengers who want to travel to the Philippines through Taipei. Clark is northwest of Angeles City in Pampanga Province. Clark International Airport is situated on the former site of the U.S. Air Force’s Clark Air Force Base.
After being decommissioned, the Philippine Government repurposed the base as a special economic zone, offering beautiful scenery, a pleasant climate and numerous resorts. Leisure visitors to Clark can enjoy numerous activities such as hang gliding, paragliding, cave exploration, snorkeling, surfing and fishing. Clark also offers stunning beaches, as well as the warm hospitality and delicious food the Philippines are known for.
