Etihad Airways to Launch Seasonal Summer Service to Malaga, Spain

Etihad Airways announced Monday that they will be offering three seasonal weekly flights to Malaga, Spain via Rabat (Morocco) between June 26, 2020 and September 13, 2020.

Today, Etihad Airways, the national carrier of the United Arab Emirates, announced new service to Malaga in the province of Andalucía in Spain for the summer 2020 season. The airline will offer three weekly flights between June 26, 2020 and September 13, 2020 via Rabat, Morocco. The route will be serviced by a three-class Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner configured with 8 private First Suites, 28 Business Studios and 190 Economy Smart Seats. In Monday’s announcement, Etihad Aviation Group’s Chief Commercial Officer, Robin Kamark said,

“Malaga has been on our wish-list for some time and we are tremendously pleased to announce summer season services to the Costa del Sol, a region which for decades has been popular with travelers across the United Arab Emirates. This will be the only service between the UAE and the main gateway to Andalucía. Together with Madrid and Barcelona, Malaga will be Etihad’s third destination in Spain, further boosting our successful operations to the Iberian Peninsula. The new flights will be operated by our next-generation 787 Dreamliners, ensuring we provide the best product and service to our customers heading on business or on holiday.”


The famed birthplace of artist Pablo Picasso, Malaga is the main entry point for travelers visiting Andalucía. The city also serves as a gateway for travelers to visit popular Mediterranean coastal destinations including Marbella as well as famed historic inland cities such as Seville, Cordoba and Granada. Malaga is also the second busiest cruise port on the Iberian Peninsula after Barcelona. The number of UAE visitors to Spain has been expending rapidly which has been accelerate by a successful Schengen visa waiver program for UAE nationals which was introduced in 2015. In addition to carrying customers, the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner Etihad will deploy on the route allows for expanded cargo hold capacity between Spain and Abu Dhabi and throughout Etihad’s global network.
