Ethiopian Airlines Signs Agreement to Order 11 More Boeing 737-8 MAX Airplanes

Boeing has today announced that Ethiopian Airlines has signed an agreement to order 11 additional 737-8 MAX airplanes, enabling them to grow their regional and international networks.

On Monday (November 17, 2025), from day one at the Dubai Airshow 2025, Boeing announced that Ethiopian Airlines has signed an agreement to order 11 additional 737-8 MAX jets. Ethiopian has the largest order backlog of Boeing airplanes in Africa, and the additional 737-8s will allow the carrier to expand their regional and international networks, while expanding their Addis Ababa hub. Ethiopian Airlines leverages the reliability, efficiency and range of their 737 MAX fleet on routes across Africa, the Middle East, India, and Southern Europe, where quick turnarounds and frequency are essential to meet passenger demand.
In Monday’s announcement, Ethiopian Airlines’ CEO, Mr. Mesfin Tasew, said,
“We are thrilled to be announcing our agreement with Boeing for additional 11 737-8 airplanes today during Dubai Airshow. The order will support our growth plans that we have set as part of our vision and strategy. Also commenting on the new order commitment, Boeing; SVP – Commercial Sales and Marketing, Brad McMullen, said,
