De Havilland Aircraft of Canada has announced that Ethiopian Airlines has placed an order for two Twin Otter Classic 300-G aircraft, a new type for their fleet.

On Tuesday (June 17, 2025), from the Paris Air Show 2025, De Havilland Aircraft of Canada announced that Ethiopian Airlines has signed a purchase agreement for two new Twin Otter Classic 300-G aircraft. This marks the introduction of the type to Ethiopian’s fleet, underscoring the carrier’s commitment to connecting communities across remote regions of Ethiopia and East Africa. The latest evolution of the iconic Twin Otter Family, the new Twin Otter Classic 300-G delivers outstanding shirt takeoff and landing (STOL) performance, rugged reliability, and modern avionics.
In Tuesday’s announcement, De Havilland Canada’s VP – Sales and Marketing, Ryan DeBrusk, said,
“We are honoured and excited to welcome Ethiopian Airlines to the Twin Otter Classic 300-G customer family. Ethiopian Airlines has a long-standing reputation for excellence in aviation and their selection of the 300-G demonstrates their confidence in the aircraft’s capabilities to support vital regional connectivity, tourism, and development missions.”
Also commenting on the new aircraft order, Ethiopian Airlines Group’s CEO, Mesfin Tasew, added,
“The addition of the Twin Otter 300-G to our fleet reflects our strategy to expand domestic connectivity and support socio-economic growth in Ethiopia and across Africa. We selected the 300-G for its proven performance in difficult environments and its modern enhancements that align with our operational and sustainability goals. The aircraft will be configured with additional equipment for multi-function missions including air ambulance, airport calibration and charter services.”
Ethiopian Airlines’ new Twin Otter 300-Gs will be delivered with amphibian gear, and will be deployed to strengthen the carrier’s domestic and regional network, enabling the airline to access underserved airstrips, remote locations as well as Ethiopia’s scenic great lakes regions with greater frequency and reliability. The aircraft’s versatility allows it to operate in both passenger and cargo configurations, supporting humanitarian, medical, and commercial operations alike. With over 600 Twin Otters delivered to date, the aircraft has become a global benchmark for utility and reliability. The new 300-G model carries forward that legacy with improvements in payload, fuel efficiency, and flight deck technology.
With more than 5,000 aircraft delivered worldwide, De Havilland Aircraft of Canada (DHC) is dedicated to advancing their nearly 100-year reputation for excellence in innovation, production and customer support. The company’s flexible aircraft portfolio, including the DHC Dash 8-400 and Twin Otter Series 400 turboprop aircraft, operate in some of the world’s most inhospitable climates, providing essential passenger and cargo connectivity between rural communities and urban centers.
