Ethiopian Airlines Launches New Passenger Service Between Addis Ababa and Porto, Portugal

Ethiopian Airlines has officially launched new passenger service between Addis Ababa and Porto via Madrid with the inaugural flight departing on Wednesday, July 2, 2025.

On Wednesday (July 2, 2025), Ethiopian Airlines announced the launch of their inaugural flight between Addis Ababa and Porto, Portugal with an interim stop in Madrid. The flight departed Addis Ababa Bole International Airport following a vibrant ceremony attended by invited guests, dignitaries and airline executives. The route will now operate four times weekly with a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner.
Speaking at the launch ceremony, Ethiopian Airlines Group’s CEO, Mr. Mesfin Tasew, said,

We are dedicated to enhancing our passengers’ convenience in traveling across the globe in a seamless connection and delivering our renowned award-winning services. This new route is beyond a connection between Addis Ababa and Porto. It is a bridge between Africa and Europe. As we expand our global network, we remain committed to delivering our signature Ethiopian hospitality and reliable service to every corner of the world we fly to.”
