Envoy Air and Piedmont will add new Embraer E175s to their fleets, with each carrier to receive 33 and 45 of the type respectively. The aircraft are scheduled for delivery to Envoy in 2026 and 2027, and to Piedmont from 2028.

On Monday (June 9, 2025), Envoy Air announced an expansion of their fleet with 33 brand new Embraer E175s, which are scheduled for delivery in 2026 and 2027, adding to the aircraft that will be delivered this year. This brings the carrier’s total fleet commitment to 214 aircraft, including 171 E175s and 43 E170s.
In Monday’s announcement, Envoy Air’s
President & CEO, Pedro Fábregas, said,
“As we remain focused on our Core Principles of Safety, Quality, and Cost Control, Envoy continues to grow strategically and sustainably – delivering value to our customers, employees and American Airlines Group shareholders. This milestone reflects the dedication and hard work of our more than 21,000 employees across North America, the Pacific, the Caribbean and the Bahamas.”
In a separate press release on Tuesday (June 10, 2025), Piedmont Airlines announced that starting in early 2028, they will expand their fleet to include Embraer E175s featuring 12 Business Class and 64 Main Cabin seats, high-speed satellite Wi-Fi, and power at every seat. This expansion represents a significant investment by parent company American Airlines Group. Piedmont will receive the first of 45 new E175s during the first quarter of 2028, with passenger revenue service to commence a few months later. The carrier expects to receive one or two new aircraft per month for 36 months, while continuing to operate their current Embraer 145 aircraft.
In Tuesday’s announcement, Piedmont Airlines’ President and CEO, Eric Morgan, said,
“Our more than 11,000 team members are the driving force behind everything we achieve. Their dedication opens doors to opportunities like this, and we’re excited about what a new fleet type means for both our team and our customers. More space, more comfort and more style, delivered by the best team in the business.
“Piedmont proudly operates one of the industry’s most senior and most trusted fleets while maintaining a reputation for reliability and operational excellence. This has resulted in Piedmont earning the title of most reliable E145 operator in the world in 2022, 2023 and 2024. And we look forward to doing the same with a new fleet type.”
Also commenting on the addition of Embraer E175s to Piedmont’s fleet, American Eagle’s EVP – Corporate Real Estate and Government Affairs, Nate Gatten, added,
“The allocation of new Embraer 175 aircraft to Piedmont is a direct reflection of the Piedmont team’s commitment to safety, operational excellence and customer service. We’re excited for the future of American’s regional network and the important role Piedmont will continue to play in it.”
Piedmont Airlines (formerly Henson Aviation) was founded in 1962, and has built a reputation for operational excellence and reliability across the American Eagle portfolio. Over the decades, the carrier has successfully transitioned through seven aircraft types, with the last fleet upgrade taking place in 2016, when the company retired their De Havilland Dash 8 turboprop aircraft, replacing them with Embraer E145 jets. With the addition of two-class Embraer E175s, Piedmont will be aligned with their industry peers.
