On Tuesday (October 1st, 2024), Emirates announced the launch of Neo, a limited-edition tote bag collection that breathes new life into Team New Zealand sails used in previous world series, regattas and Americas Cup competitions dating back to 2011.  The Neo collection will feature up to 80 barrel and tote bags made from retired North Sails 3Di, renowned for their lightweight construction, underpinned by their durability and resistance to tears and stretching.  Consisting of up to 95 percent upcycled sails, the chic bags will have a retro-feel, cut with the colors, shapes and angles that have defined the iconic Emirates Team New Zealand sail designs over the years.

Emirates’ Neo collection will be produced exclusively by UAE-based manufacturer, Jasani, reflecting the carrier’s ongoing commitment to minimizing waste across their own business activities.  Sails used in the Neo collection include a sail from an AC45 used in the World Series between 2011 and 2012, leading up to the 2013 Americas Cup in San Francisco, and a sail from an AC50, which played a pivotal role during Emirates Team New Zealand’s 2017 Americas Cup victory in Bermuda.  Additionally, a Code 0 sail from and AC75 will be featured, which was used and tested in the lead up to the 36th Americas Cup in 2021, which saw another Emirates Team New Zealand victory.

Emirates’ first upcycled collection, ‘Aircrafted by Emirates’ debuted in 2023, which included a limited-edition range of products made from retrofitted aircraft cabin materials.  The collection was carefully ‘made to order’ by Emirates’ tailors in a dedicated workshop at the carrier’s Engineering facility in Dubai.  In the coming months, new collections of upcycled items will be announced.  The new tote and duffle bags are now available for pre-order on the Emirates Official Store website.
