Emirates to Launch New Service Between Dubai and Madagascar via the Seychelles

Starting September 3, 2024, Emirates will launch new service between Dubai and Antananarivo in Madagascar via the Seychelles.  The route will operate four times weekly with a Boeing 777-300ER.

On Friday (June 7, 2024), Emirates announced the launch of new service between Dubai (DXB) and Antananarivo in Madagascar (TNR) via the Seychelles.  The route will be operated four times per week with a Boeing 777-300ER featuring eight First Class suites, 42 Business Class seats and 310 Economy Class seats.  Emirates’ guests enjoy regionally inspired menus developed by award-winning chefs, complemented by an extensive collection of premium beverages.  Customers can also enjoy over 6,500 channels of entertainment on ice, the carrier’s award-winning IFE system.


In Friday’s route announcement, Emirates’ Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer, Adnan Kazim, said,


“Madagascar has historically been underserved, despite growing appetite from travellers for authentic ecotourism experiences.  Emirates understands the importance of offering customers efficient connectivity and premium travel experiences and we’re confident that this new service will have a positive impact on boosting Madagascar’s connectivity, offering more opportunities for travellers to discover the hidden gem that is Madagascar, in addition to opening new international business opportunities.


“The Malagasy’s government is spearheading efforts to grow its tourism sector by enticing more tourists to experience the island’s renowned biodiversity and natural attractions.  Emirates is ready to support Madagascar’s tourism agenda by helping bring visitors from around its network.  We thank the Malagasy’s government for their partnership and support in establishing this route and we look forward to welcoming passengers onboard soon.”

Also commenting on Emirates’ new service, Madagascar’s Minister of Transports and Meteorology, H.E. Manambahoaka Valéry Ramonjavelo, added,


“Our agreement between the United Arab Emirates and Madagascar opens the way to this new Antananarivo-Dubai route and represents a significant step forward for the development of tourism and trade between the two countries.  This is extremely positive news in more than one way, as it opens a new door between Madagascar and the world, through the Dubai hub, the biggest international hub in passenger numbers.


“It will also introduce the whole world to the incredible touristic and cultural treasures of Madagascar, while also creating opportunities for new business streams.  The association of our national airline combined with this new Emirates route it will strengthen connectivity for our regions.”

The flight times to/from Madagascar have been scheduled to optimize connections to and from key points in Europe, the Far East, West Asia and the Middle East/GCC.  Flight EK707 will depart Dubai at 08:55, arriving in Mahé, the Seychelles at 13:35, and will then continue on to Antananarivo, touching down at 16:50.  The return flight, EK708, departs Antananarivo at 18:35 and lands in Mahé at 22:20.  The flight then departs Mahé at 23:50, arriving back in Dubai at 04:20+1 (all times local).  Four weekly flights will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays.


The world’s fourth largest Island, Madagascar offers stunning natural landscapes, from white sandy beaches and emerald waters, to lush rainforests and national parks, and fossilized shells on the limestone plateaus.  The island also boasts three World Heritage UNESCO sites.  For more adventurous travelers, Madagascar offers a range of exciting activities such as hiking, trekking, quad riding, kite surfing, scuba diving and whale watching.  Wildlife lovers will also enjoy Lemur’s Park, while foodies can sample traditional cuisine and delicious local produce.  Madagascar also features a wealth of biodiversity, with 5.0 percent of the planet’s plant and animal species found only on the island.
