On Monday (January 23, 2023), Emirates announced the addition of two more Australia flights on soaring demand, returning frequencies to pre-pandemic levels. Starting March 26th, the carrier will increase from two to three daily flights from Dubai to Melbourne via Singapore, and will also add a third daily direct flight from Dubai to Sydney starting May 1st, 2023. The added service follows the carrier’s recent announcement that they will offer double-daily flights to Brisbane from June 1st. The added frequencies to Sydney and Melbourne will be operated with a three-class Boeing 777-300ER, featuring First, Business and Economy Class cabins.

In Monday’s announcement, Emirates’ Chief Commercial officer, Adnan Kazim, said,

“Adding a third daily service to Sydney and Melbourne will offer over 500,000 additional seats to and from Australia in a year. To have the two cities operating back at pre-pandemic frequencies is a phenomenal milestone in our restoration of Australia capacity and testament to our longstanding commitment to flying down under. For over 25 years we have provided services for Australia since our first flight to Melbourne in 1996. During this time, we have proudly transported over 40 million passengers and continued flying to Australia during the pandemic. We continue to record significant demand for our services, so we’re dedicated to offering Australians and travellers more options to travel, including the likes of our new Premium Economy cabin with Australia being one of the first markets to be offered this class.”

By mid-2023, Emirates will operate 63 weekly flights between Dubai and Australia.

Additionally, Emirates will restore Christchurch, New Zealand service via Sydney from March 26, 2023, offering the only opportunity for guests on the route to fly on Emirates’ flagship Airbus A380 aircraft.
