Emirates is empowering pilots with data by leveraging the GE FlightPulse™ app to connect the pilot community, reduce fuel use, and enhance flight safety. On 470 daily departures, Emirates’ pilots use the app, which provides vital operational data.
On Thursday (September 5, 2024), Emirates announced that they have empowered their pilots by leveraging the GE FlightPulse™ app to connect the pilot community, reduce fuel burn, and enhance flight safety. Each day on over 470 departing flights, Emirates’ pilots actively use GE FlightPulse, an analytics application that provides critical operational data related to the safety and fuel efficiency of each mission. The app provides pilots with flight summary data from individual missions, along with information on how they operated the aircraft, so they can analyze their performance and plan for the next flight with valuable data driven insights. Emirates and GE have developed a customized dashboard with defined KPIs and analysis tailored the carrier’s requirements and operational averages.
In Thursday’s announcement, Emirates’ Divisional SVP – Flight Operations, Captain Hassan Al Hammadi, said,
“FlightPulse has helped put data in the hands of our pilots and flight operations teams, making them more connected than ever to enhance operational, safety and fuel efficiency. It not only gives them a retrospective view to reflect on how they can improve, but also equips them when making future operational decisions. We’ve seen remarkable improvements in fuel efficiency and other operational and safety KPIs, and we’ll continue to push this technology forward and enhance it further as part of our commitment to continuous development. This tool has brought about a key shift in flight operations data monitoring, where both management and pilots have transparency and visibility of key operational data related to safety and efficiency. This shift resulted in better collaboration and understanding between management and the pilot community in managing safety and efficiency.”

Additionally, FlightPulse supports Emirates with photo-realistic custom simulations of entire flights, displaying all operational procedures by pilots in sequential order of the flight path. Emirates began implementation the FlightPulse project in 2021, working closely with GE to customize the tool for their requirements. Today, the app has been substantially enhanced, and now covers four key areas, including fuel efficiency, safety metrics, operational data & analytics, and research, all accompanied with insights and statistics for every Emirates route.
