In partnership with AIG Travel, the carrier has expanded their existing COVID-19 coverage with an expanded multi-risk policy. The industry-first complimentary coverage applies to all Emirates tickets and select codeshare flights from December 1st, 2020.
On Monday (November 23, 2020), Emirates announced an expansion of their existing complimentary COVID-19 cover with new multi-risk insurance coverage. In partnership with AIG Travel, Emirates’ guests can now plan their trips with confidence and enjoy even greater peace of mind. The complimentary coverage automatically applies to all Emirates tickets purchased from December 1st, 2020 and extends to flights operated by codeshare partners, providing the ticket number starts with 176. In Monday’s announcement, Emirates’ Chairman and Chief Executive, His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, said,
“Emirates was the first airline to offer complimentary global COVID-19 cover for travelers back in July, and the response from our customers has been tremendously encouraging. We’ve not rested on our laurels and instead continued to look at how we can offer our customers an even better proposition. We’re very pleased to be able to now provide this new multi-risk travel insurance and COVID-19 cover, which is another industry first, to all our customers. We see a strong appetite for travel around the world, especially heading into the winter holidays as people seek warmer climates and family destinations like Dubai. By launching this new multi-risk travel insurance and COVID-19 cover, we aim to give our customers even more confidence in making their travel plans this winter and moving into 2021.”
The new expanded coverage applies for flights to any destination and every class of service. Some of the highlights of the comprehensive coverage are detailed below.
Also commenting on Emirates’ expanded complimentary coverage, AIG Travel’s CEO, Jeff Rutledge added,
“We have enjoyed a long-standing relationship with Emirates, and we are excited to work with them to tailor this product to meet the needs of Emirates customers worldwide. Our hope is to help alleviate some of the concerns travelers may have when planning travel during this time.”
Like other multi-risk travel insurance policies, Emirates’ generous coverage has provisions for unexpected events such as accidents during travel, winter sports coverage, loss of personal property and trip disruptions due to airspace closures or travel recommendations and advisories.
Emirates customers purchasing tickets for travel on or before March 31, 2021 will enjoy generous rebooking terms and options if their plans change due to unexpected COVID-19 related flight or travel restrictions. This includes the ability to change travel dates or extend ticket validity for up to two years. The carrier has implemented a comprehensive set of measures at every step of the guest journey to ensure the health and wellbeing of their guests and team members. Emirates also distributes complimentary hygiene kits which include masks, gloves, hand sanitizer and antibacterial wipes.
