As part of Emirates continuous drive to enhance the guest experience, the carrier is investing over $350 million in Thales' Avant Up next-generation inflight entertainment systems for their new Airbus A350s scheduled for delivery in 2024.
On Thursday (September 8, 2022), Emirates announced that they will be investing over $350 million in next-generation inflight entertainment (IFE) systems for their new A350 fleet, scheduled for delivery in 2024. The carrier has selected Thales’ AVANT Up system for the new fleet, as part of their continuous commitment to enhancing the guest experience. The investment will see Emirates’ 50-strong fleet of A350s equipped with next-generation IFE solutions that will offer passengers a memorable, cinematic and personalized experience.
In Thursday’s announcment, Emirates’ Chief Operating Officer, Adel al Redha, said,
“Emirates has always regarded inflight entertainment as an essential aspect of our onboard experience, and we were in fact the first airline to put personal screens onto every single seat onboard when that was far from the norm over 30 years ago. Today, Emirates ice remains unmatched in inflight entertainment content and experience, having won best-in-the-sky awards consecutively for the past 14 years. Our investment in next-generation Thales systems for our new A350 fleet will further our lead, enabling us to deliver even better experiences to our customers. Watch this space.”
Also commenting on Emirates’ IFE experience upgrade, Thales Avionics’ Executive Vice President, Yannick Assouad, said,
“At Thales we are proud to partner with Emirates in their mission to Fly Better. Thales’ AVANT Up brings to Emirates the latest consumer technologies and capabilities to the aircraft. Combining our Optiq 4K QLED HDR displays, award-winning dynamic power, and next generation digital services, Emirates customers can expect the extraordinary.”
The new Thales IFE system will also provide an enhanced live television solution with a broader choice of programming in the highest available definition at 40,000 feet. Guests will also enjoy enhanced connectivity with Optiq, the industry’s first smart display offering two Bluetooth connections and built-in Wi-Fi, while supporting up to 60 watts USB-C to quick charge personal devices. Emirates has also selected a range of AVANT Up digital services, including highly-integrated personalization features, expanded device capabilities, and user interface improvements, which also enhance the experience for visually impaired guests. Additionally, Emirates becomes the first global airline to select Thales’ Pulse, a patented power management system that ensures uniform charging performance, regardless of the number of users charging devices at the same time.
