On Thursday (October 19, 2023), Emirates announced an expansion of their Inflight Meal Preordering Service to 92 global destinations. The expansion includes the addition of 30 new routes including flights to Riyadh, Jeddah, Delhi, Mumbai and Kuala Lumpur. Since the introduction of the service, more than 10,000 preordered meals have been delivered on over 3,000 flights, with an average of 600 meals preordered by Emirates customers daily. Emirates’ Inflight Meal Preordering Service allows Business Class guests to preselect their main course from 14 days in advance up to 24 hours prior to departure. The service ensures that guests will receive their desired first choice, while also reducing food waste.

Some of the most popular preordered choices include pan-fried beef tenderloin with thyme jus, roasted new potato wedges and steamed asparagus, as well as grilled beef tenderloin with creamy wild mushroom sauce, Kenya beans and potato au gratin. Another popular choice so far has been Suffolk roasted chicken with black garlic and potato fondant. The most popular breakfast choice has been the cheddar cheese and chive omelet with creamy spinach, sautéed Portobello mushroom and roasted herbed tomato. Other breakfast choices include chocolate hazelnut pancakes with apricot compote and ricotta sour cream. Some lunch options include Moroccan-style Pacific cod served with coriander pesto, moghrabieh with saffron tomato salsa, broccoli and roasted pumpkin wit cardamom. For dinner, Emirates’ Business Class guests can also preorder pan-fried salmon trout with saffron cream, blanched green beans, braised beetroot and polenta with spring onions.

Onboard, Emirates’ cabin crew members will use Apple devices to view the preordered selection and serve the guests the meal of their choice. The Inflight Meal Preordering System is in addition to Emirates’ existing suite of AI-enabled guest preference tracking and cabin crew reports, which helps facilitate menu planning, optimized food loading and waste minimization.
