Emirates and Viva Aerobus have established a new interline partnership which will facilitate more travel options within Mexico. Emirates guests will now enjoy onward connectivity from Mexico City to 21 new domestic points, and seven U.S. routes with Viva Aerobus.
On Friday (May 24, 2024), Emirates announced the establishment of a new interline partnership with Mexican carrier Viva Aerobus, which will enhance domestic connectivity in Mexico as well as through select U.S. transborder routes. Under the agreement, Emirates’ guests will enjoy connectivity to 21 new domestic points in Mexico, and a further seven routes between Mexico and the U.S. with Viva Aerobus. Customers will also enjoy single itinerary travel, as well as baggage policy alignment and seamless connectivity. Emirates launched service to Mexico City in 2019, and currently operates daily service between Dubai and Mexico City via Barcelona with a two-class Boeing 777-200LR.
In Friday’s announcement, Emirates’ Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer, Adnan Kazim, said,
“We are pleased to activate an interline partnership with Viva Aerobus to deepen our reach into Mexico, beyond Mexico City. This new partnership provides our customers with more choice to suit their travel plans and enables customers to seamlessly fly to a host of unique destinations in Mexico. Emirates customers can also now fly directly between select US points and cities in Mexico. This new offering is in line with our Fly Better promise and convenience that can be felt by our customers when flying with us and we look forward to further developing the partnership in the future to elevate its benefits to our customers.”
Also commenting on the new interline partnership, Viva Aerobus’ EVP and Chief Planning and Alliances Officer, Javier Suarez, added,
“We are excited about this new partnership with Emirates. Connecting Emirates route from Barcelona with our Mexico City network of routes, allows Emirates’ passengers to seamlessly reach many other destinations in Mexico and the US. Equally, this opportunity allows passengers from the many Mexican cities to make a short stop in Mexico city, board an Emirates flight to reach the great city of Barcelona and/or to continue their trip to Dubai and beyond. All of this with the convenience of buying a single ticket.”
Customers traveling with Emirates from Dubai to Mexico City can enjoy onward connectivity to popular destinations such as Acapulco, Cancun, Guadalajara, Monterrey and more. The interline network also includes direct flights to select Mexican destinations from U.S. points such as Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, Orlando and Miami. Travelers from Mexico City can also fly direct to Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, New York-JFK or San Antonio. Currently, Emirates has commercial cooperation agreements with 161 interline, codeshare and intermodal partners.
Established in 2006, Monterrey, Mexico-based Viva Aerobus currently operates 83 Airbus A320 and A321 Family aircraft with an average age of 5.45 years, making it the most modern fleet in Mexico, and the fifth youngest fleet in all of Latin America.
