Emirates Drops Second Limited Edition Luggage Collection Made from Upcycled Aircraft Interiors

On Monday (July 21, 2025), Emirates announced that following the sellout success of the ‘Aircrafted by Emirates’ launch collection in 2023, they have dropped a second limited edition collection of handmade luggage and bags.  The items have been crafted from upcycled materials salvaged from the carrier’s retrofitted aircraft.  The 2025 collection is now available for purchase at Emirates Official Store, and the 167 collectors’ items are expected to sell out fast.  Like the 2023 collection, which raised more than US $17,000, most proceeds will be donated to children in need via the Emirates Airline Foundation.

The second Aircrafted by Emirates collection offers travelers and airline enthusiasts the opportunity to own a unique piece of aviation history, and features three new trolley bag styles, two trendy backpack styles, and two handbags.  One of the handbags is made from the fur of the Emirates’ Captain seat.  Prices of each handmade item range from US $80 to $350.  The materials used to create the collection have been gathered from the iconic Emirates A380, as well as from Boeing 777 aircraft.  To date, over 30,000 kg of materials have been repurposed from 63 retrofitted aircraft, with materials ranging from aluminum headrests, to genuine leather from First and Business Class seats, and the sofas in the A380 onboard lounge.

All repurposed fabrics are freshly laundered, then further deep cleaned by hand, while leather is conditioned and thoroughly disinfected before being sewn into unique pieces. Brand new linings and functional zippers are also added to the bags, with some bags even featuring actual Emirates’ seatbelts as straps.  All the Aircrafted bags were designed and handmade by Emirates’ team of tailors (officially titled as Engineering Maintenance Assistants) in a dedicated cabin workshop at the Emirates Engineering facility in Dubai.  Thanks to the success of Aircrafted by Emirates and Aircrafted KIDS, an entire team of tailors are now dedicated full-time to the initiative.

Emirates began the largest known fleet retrofit project in August 2022, as part of a multi-billion-dollar investment to elevate the guest experience.  The carrier aims to upgrade the entire interior cabins of 219 Airbus A380 and Boeing 777 aircraft.  Managed completely by Emirates’ Engineering team, the cabin refresh will see nearly 4,000 brand new Premium Economy seats installed, 728 First Class suites refurbished, and over 5,000 Business Class seats upgraded to a new style and design when completed.
