On Thursday (March 30, 2023), Emirates announced the activation of their codeshare partnership with United Airlines to enhance U.S. connectivity. Starting today, Emirates customers traveling to Chicago, Houston or San Francisco will enjoy seamless connectivity with United Airlines to over 150 U.S. cities. Likewise, Emirates’ U.S. customers planning trips to Dubai and beyond can utilize United’s network to easily connect to Emirates operated flights bound for Dubai via Chicago, Houston or San Francisco. Inbound travelers to Dubai will also enjoy convenient one-stop connectivity to destinations in Emirates’ extensive network across the Middle East, Africa, Central Asia and the Indian subcontinent.

In Thursday’s announcement, Emirates’ Chief Commercial Officer, Adnan Kazim, said,

“We are extremely delighted to activate this historic partnership with United and significantly expand our footprint in the U.S. United’s vast network across the Americas will help us to offer more choice to our customer base from across the globe, and meet demand from across segments including the leisure, VFR, corporate travellers and students who can now connect seamlessly to and from a broader network of more than 150 domestic points.”

Travelers with itineraries on Emirates’ codeshare flights can now plan their entire journey on a single ticket with convenient baggage check-through to their final destination. Additionally, Emirates Skywards loyalty program members can earn and redeem miles across United’s worldwide network. In addition to United’s hubs, the new codeshare partnership unlocks a vast range of destinations accessible from Emirates U.S. gateways including Atlanta, Austin, Denver, Minneapolis and Phoenix. For example, Emirates guests planning a trip to Detroit can simply fly direct from Dubai to Chicago or Houston and then conveniently connect with United to Detroit.

Emirates and United also have an interline agreement that allows travelers to easily reach a wider choice of destinations in the Americas outside of the U.S., such as cities in Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, Central America and South America. Emirates currently offers service from Dubai to 12 U.S. cities, as well as five points across Canada, Mexico, Brazil and Argentina. Additionally, the partnership allows United MileagePlus® loyalty members to earn miles on select Emirates flights in the carrier’s network when traveling from New York/Newark (EWR) to Dubai (DXB) on United, and then onward to select destinations operated by Emirates.
