Emirates and Barclays Launch Co-Branded Credit Card for U.S. Customers

Emirates announced on Monday that in partnership with Barclays they have launched their first-ever co-branded credit card for U.S. customers. The Emirates Skywards Mastercard® will allow cardholders to earn Skywards Miles on everyday purchases.

On Monday (September 14, 2020), Emirates announced that in cooperation with Barclays they have launched their first co-branded credit card for U.S. customers. The Emirates Skywards Mastercard® will allow cardholders to earn Skywards Miles (the award-winning loyalty program of Emirates and flydubai) on everyday purchases. Additionally, new cardholders can earn up to 40,000 bonus Skywards Miles and enjoy immediate Silver or Gold tier status during their first year of enrollment. In Monday’s announcement, Emirates Skywards’ Divisional Senior Vice President, Dr. Nejib Ben Khedher said,


“We’re excited to introduce our first-ever co-branded credit card in the U.S. to help travelers accumulate even more Skywards Miles on their everyday spend and travel purchases. The Emirates Skywards Mastercard offers a fantastic opportunity to accelerate Skywards Miles earnings for spend on future flight rewards with Emirates and our partner airlines, JetBlue and Alaska Airlines. This is a unique opportunity allowing our more than 2.5 million U.S. members to boost their Skywards Miles to use as a payment option with cash+Miles, and for flight upgrades while traveling from cities across the U.S., including New York, Houston and Los Angeles.”


Also commenting on the new partnership, Barclays' Head of U.S. Cards and Partnerships, Bob Highland, added,

From Economy to First Class, Emirates is a distinctive experience and the airline of choice for many world travelers. Our partnership with Emirates Skywards is focused on growing loyalty with U.S.-based customers by helping them earn more Emirates Skywards privileges through their everyday spend.”


Two versions of the new credit card are now available. The Emirates Skywards Rewards World Elite Mastercard® offers Silver tier membership status and carries a $99 annual fee, while the Emirates Skywards Premium World Elite Mastercard® offers Gold tier membership status and has a $499 annual fee. Both cards earn three Skywards Miles for every $1 spent on eligible Emirates purchases, two Skywards Miles on eligible travel purchases and one Skyward Mile for everyday purchases.
