Emirates and AEGEAN Expand Codeshare Partnership

irates and AEGEAN are expanding their codeshare partnership to include service between Athens and New York-Newark, benefitting customers of both airlines with convenient connections via Athens and Dubai on both networks.

On Tuesday (September 5, 2023), AEGEAN announced an expansion of their codeshare partnership with Emirates, which will now include flights between Athens (ATH) and New York-Newark (EWR). Emirates’ guests can now stopover in Athens and benefit from AEGEAN’s connections to 17 popular destinations in Greece and 53 additional points across Europe. Likewise, AEGEAN’s passengers will benefit from Emirates’ service between Athens and Dubai, and beyond across Emirates’ global network of over 140 destinations spanning six continents. The combined network of both airlines will reach 200 destinations worldwide.
In Tuesday’s announcement, AEGEAN’s CEO, Dimitris Gerogiannis, said,

This pivotal step brings Athens and New York closer for all AEGEAN passengers whereas at the same time facilitates seamless travel to popular Greek and European destinations through our network, for all passengers who select Emirates as their gateway to Greece. The harmonious collaboration between Emirates and AEGEAN sets a remarkable precedent for a seamless travel experience for our passengers and paves the way for another successful step for the benefit of both airlines and Greek tourism industry as well.”
Also commenting on the expanded codeshare partnership, Emirates’ Chief Commercial Officer, Adnan Kazim, said,

We currently have 29 codeshare and 117 interline partners in over 100 countries, expanding our global footprint and offering travelers seamless connectivity to more than 5,250 destinations beyond our network. AEGEAN and their Olympic Air subsidiary carried 12.5 million passengers in 2022, and will offer 18 million seats this year. During 2023, the carrier’s network includes a total of 165 destinations, with 30 domestic and 135 international routes in 46 countries. The carrier operates 10 bases in Greece and abroad, and operates a fleet of 76 aircraft including New Airbus A320neo Family jets. AEGEAN is a member of Star Alliance and has been named the ‘Best Regional Airline in Europe’ for the 12th consecutive year by Skytrax.
