On Tuesday (November 14, 2023), from the Dubai Airshow 2023, Airbus announced that EGYPTAIR has ordered 10 new A350-900s to meet growing demand for air travel.  The signing ceremony took place in Dubai today in the presence of EGYPTAIR’s Chairman and CEO, Engineer Yehia Zakaria and Airbus’ Chief Commercial Officer and Head of International, Christian Scherer.  The Airbus A350-900s will deliver a 25 percent reduction in fuel burn and emissions, while customers will enjoy the comfortable AirSpace cabin featuring wide seats, high ceilings and ambient lighting.

In Tuesday’s announcement, EGYPTAIR’s Chairman and CEO, Yehia Zakaria, said,

“EGYPTAIR is a key partner of Airbus in the Middle East and Africa.  We take immense pride in this partnership aimed at furthering the aviation industry.  Our focus lies in the enhancement of our fleet to embrace some of the most contemporary aircraft available.

“EGYPTAIR has firmed up an agreement with Airbus to procure 10 A350-900 aircraft, each boasting a capacity of 340 seats.  These aircraft come equipped with cutting-edge technologies and Rolls-Royce XWB Trent engines, known for their modern design and reduced fuel emissions and consumption.  As we tackle growing demand across our network, this aircraft is the optimal choice.”

Also commenting on EGYPTAIR’s A350-900 order, Airbus’ Chief Commercial Officer and Head of Airbus International, Christian Scherer, added,

“Once delivered the A350-900 will be EGYPTAIR’s flagship aircraft.  Adding the world’s most modern and efficient widebody aircraft to the airline’s fleet will be instrumental in expanding its offering, opening new opportunities particularly in Western US and the far East.”

The Airbus A350 is the world’s most efficient widebody aircraft and the long range leader in the 300-410 seat category.  The versatile aircraft can efficiently fly in any market, from short to ultra-long-haul routes, offering a range of up to 9,700 nautical miles.  With a clean sheet design that includes state-of-the-art technologies, aerodynamics, lightweight materials and the latest generation engines, the aircraft delivers a 25 percent reduction in fuel use, operating costs, and CO2 emissions, as well as a 50 percent smaller noise footprint, compared to previous generation competitor aircraft.  To date, the Airbus A350 has won over 1,000 orders from leading carriers worldwide.
