Edelweiss has unveiled a new modernized livery to coincide with the future introduction of the Airbus A350 to their fleet. The carrier has further announced the addition of new service to Halifax, Nova Scotia and Seattle for summer 2025.
On Tuesday (August 13, 2024), Edelweiss revealed a new modernized livery which will debut on the carrier’s six new Airbus A350s when they are delivered in the future. The signature red nose and Edelweiss flower on the tailfin will remain in an adapted design, and white will remain the main color. While the colors blue, white and yellow have been retained in the flower, they have been made finer, giving it a more modern appearance. An enlarged red area has made it possible for one of the flower’s petals to extend downward onto the aft fuselage. Additionally, the Edelweiss is visible on the inside of the wingtip Sharklets. The instantly recognizable red color is remains, but now extends from the tailfin to the fuselage and curves upward, with the shape then reappearing by the nose, like a wave movement.
In Tuesday’s announcement, Edelweiss’ Head of Brand Management and Marketing Communication, Nina Wach, said,
“In addition to the six Airbus A350s, the existing Airbus A320 fleet will also be painted with the adapted design step by step. However, this will take place during the already planned repaints and will take place over the next few years.”
Currently, the first of six Airbus A350s is in a hangar in Shannon, Ireland where it is being repainted. Over the next few months, the interior will be modified before entering passenger revenue service with Edelweiss in spring 2025.
The aircraft’s existing seating will be retained until being completely redesigned during the second half of 2026. The aircraft will feature 30 Business Class, 63 Economy Max and 246 Economy Class seats, all upholstered in blue Edelweiss fabric. Business class seats will be in a 2-2-2 configuration and can be completely reclined for sleeping, while Economy Max and Economy Class seats will be in a 3-3-3 configuration. Business Class guests will enjoy a 19-inch IFE screen, while Economy Max and Economy Class seats have 9-inch screens. All seats will have power and a USB connection.
In a separate press release on Tuesday (August 13, 2024), Edelweiss announced the addition of two new long-haul destinations for summer 2025, including Halifax, Nova Scotia (Canada) and Seattle, Washington (U.S.). The direct service between Zurich and Seattle will operate twice weekly on Mondays and Saturdays between June and September 2025, while the nonstop Zurich-Halifax route will operate twice weekly on Thursdays and Sundays from July through the beginning of October 2025.
