At Zurich Airport on Wednesday, Edelweiss celebrated the resumption of North American service after a break of two years with a flight to Tampa, Florida. The Zurich-Tampa route will operate twice weekly on Wednesdays and Fridays.
On Wednesday (March 2, 2022), Edelweiss celebrated the relaunch of North American flights for the first time in two years. The first flight departed Zurich on Wednesday for Tampa, Florida, a route that will be operated twice weekly on Wednesdays and Fridays. Edelweiss will also add service to Las Vegas on March 28th with two weekly flights, with frequency increasing to three flight per week from June. Additionally, the carrier will launch service between Zurich and Denver from June 13th, with twice weekly service on Mondays and Fridays through September 2022.
Speaking at the ribbon cutting ceremony at Zurich Airport on Wednesday, Edelweiss’ CEO, Bernd Bauer, said,
“Today is a special day for Edelweiss. We have been waiting for this moment for a long time. We are very happy to be able to offer our guests the holiday destinations in the USA and Canada again with immediate effect.”
Wednesday’s ceremony at Zurich Airport was also attended by Edelweiss’ Chief Commercial Officer, Patrick Heymann.
Edelweiss will also resume service to Canada starting in May, with twice weekly service from Zurich to Vancouver on Sundays and Tuesdays from May 15th, expanding to three weekly flights in June with an added Saturday service. Additionally, twice weekly service to Calgary will start on June 5th, with flights operating on Sundays and Wednesdays. Including the resumed North American services, this summer Edelweiss will offer 59 short and medium-haul destinations in 19 countries, as well as 19 long-haul destinations in 13 countries.
