On Wednesday (May 26, 2021), easyJet announced the launch of inaugural service between Belfast International Airport on Bournemouth on the south coast of England today, providing an additional domestic connection to Northern Ireland customers. Bournemouth offers miles of coastline and award-winning sandy beaches, as well as links to the New Forest and nature reserves for picturesque strolls and outdoor activities. Flights to the popular seaside holiday destination will operate twice weekly throughout the summer on Wednesdays and Fridays, with fares from only £40.99. The low introductory fares are one-way per person, including taxes, and are based on two people traveling on the same booking.

In Wednesday’s announcement, easyJet’s UK Country Manager, Ali Gayward, said,

“We are delighted to be celebrating the launch of our new domestic service from Belfast to Bournemouth for the first time, further strengthening our network in Belfast and providing more opportunity for our customers in Northern Ireland to book a trip this summer. Our protection promise means that customers can book with confidence knowing that if they are unable to travel or if their plans change, so can their flights, and we are looking forward to be reuniting friends and family or take customers on a long awaited holiday.”

Also commenting in the launch of the new route, Belfast International Airport’s Business Development Director, Uel Hoey, added,

“We are incredibly proud to be launching another easyJet service from Belfast International Airport today. The resplendent south coast of England was essentially the last region of the UK uncovered by easyJet service from Belfast. Bournemouth and its hinterland right across the English Riviera will be a popular destination for Northern Ireland travellers this summer, with easyJet bringing value fares to the south coast market for the first time. The route will also provide an excellent connection for holidaymakers in the region to make the trip northbound to experience the multitude of attractions on offer across Northern Ireland.”

easyJet carries nearly 100 million passengers annually on around 1,000 routes to over 150 airports in 35 countries. The airline has a fleet of over 300 aircraft and over 300 million Europeans live within an hour’s drive of an airport served by easyJet. The just over 25 year old low-cost carrier is dedicated to innovation and leads the industry in digital, web, engineering and operational efficiencies. easyJet was named “Britain’s Most Admired Company” in the transport sector for 2019, based on the longest running annual corporate reputation study in the UK.
