On Thursday (February 29, 2024), easyJet announced the launch of new service between London Gatwick and Salerno’s Amalfi Coast Airport for summer 2024, becoming the first and only UK carrier offering service on the route.  Late this summer, easyJet will also resume service between Newcastle and Amsterdam.  Flights are now on sale with one-way fares from £27.99 per person including taxes, and easyJet Holidays will offer packages for sale in the coming weeks.  The new Gatwick-Amalfi Coast service will commence on July 13, 2024 and will operate twice weekly on Tuesdays and Saturdays.  The Amalfi Coast Airport was a former military-only airport, and is now open for the first time for commercial flights, and will mark easyJet’s 157th destination.

In Thursday’s route announcement, easyJet’s UK Country Manager, Ali Gayward, said,

“We are delighted to announce the launch of two new routes from the UK today as we continue to strengthen our network and offer even more choice for our customers across the UK.  We are particularly excited to welcome a new destination to our network, with a unique connection from the UK to Salerno’s Amalfi coast airport serving one of the most iconic, scenic parts of Italy from London Gatwick.

“We’re also adding more great value connectivity for customers in the North of England with a service from Newcastle to Amsterdam, which we know will prove popular with those looking for a city break or travelling for business, and we look forward to welcoming more customers onboard.”

The resumed service between Newcastle and Amsterdam will operate year-round twice weekly on Thursdays and Sundays starting September 5, 2024.
