On Thursday (September 21, 2023), easyJet announced the launch of new service between Bournemouth and Lyon for winter 2024. The route will operate once weekly on Saturdays starting January 13, 2024, for week-long trips just in time for the ski season and half term holidays. Flights are now bookable with one-way fares from only £23.99 per person, including taxes. Lyon Airport serves as a convenient gateway to the Alps and popular ski resorts such as Tignes, Val d’Isère, Alpe d’Huez, Les 2 Alpes, Val Thorens and La Plagne. The new route complements easyJet’s existing winter service between Bournemouth and Geneva, which launched in December 2021.

In Thursday’s route announcement, easyJet’s UK Country Manager, Ali Gayward, said,

“We are really pleased to be announcing a second winter route from Bournemouth to Lyon today, providing more choice for our customers in the South who are looking to visit the Alps region whether that’s for skiing and other winter sports, or a city break to enjoy Lyon’s impressive architecture, cuisine and history. With flights on sale today, now is a great time to book early to get the best fares and we can’t wait to welcome more customers.”

Also commenting on the new Lyon service, Bournemouth Airport’s Managing Director, Steve Gill, added,

“This is great news for passengers and offers them even more choice from their local airport. Winter routes are increasingly popular from Bournemouth and Lyon provides even more connectivity to the Alps this winter.”
