On Thursday (March 21, 2024), Discover Airlines announced they will return to Munich just in time for the start of the summer season on March 31st.  The carrier will offer approximately 70 weekly departures to 23 short and medium-haul destinations.  Discover Airlines will base five Airbus A320s in Munich for the summer 2024 season.  Last year, flights from Munich were operated exclusively on behalf of Lufthansa at the Munich hub, but this summer Discover will operate out of Terminal 2 under their own flight numbers.

In Thursday’s announcement, Discover Airlines’ CEO, Bernd Bauer, said,

“We are looking forward to taking off from Munich again this summer and expanding our presence at this important hub.  This complements the Lufthansa Group's offering in Munich and gives travelers even more choice - including to holiday destinations that were previously not served by direct flights.”

From Munich, Discover will serve popular destinations from the Canary Islands, to the Mediterranean and Bodrum in Turkey.  The carrier will offer 11 weekly flights to Ibiza, nine to Mallorca and nine to Heraklion and Chania on the island of Crete.  In total, Discover will offer around 30 weekly flights to Greece, including new service to Kefalonia.  Additionally, Discover Airlines will offer exclusive direct service from Munich to Varna (Bulgaria), Marrakesh (Morocco) and Samos (Greece).  In late summer, the airline will also add Hurghada (Egypt) and Funchal on the island of Madeira to their flying program.

Headquartered in Frankfurt, Discover Airlines is Lufthansa Group’s quality leisure airline in Germany, flying travelers from Frankfurt and Munich to the most beautiful holiday destinations worldwide.  The carrier has welcomed over four million guests since launching in Summer 2021.  Through its full integration into the Lufthansa Group network and codeshare partnerships with Air Canada and United Airlines, Discover Airlines offers travelers a wide range of end-to-end bookings and seamless transfers.  Currently, the airline operates a fleet of 24 aircraft and employs around 2,000 team members.
