Dietmar Focke to Become Managing Director at Lufthansa Industry Solutions

Lufthansa Cargo has today announced the appointment of Dietmar Focke, Chief Operations Officer, as Managing Director at Lufthansa Industry Solutions effective October 31, 2024.  At that time, Mr. Focke will also leave Cargo’s Executive Board.

On Friday (September 27, 2024), Lufthansa Cargo announced that the company’s current Chief Operations Officer, Dietmar Focke will leave the Board of Lufthansa Cargo AG and become Managing Director at Lufthansa Industry Solutions effective October 31, 2024.  Lufthansa Industry solutions is the service company for IT consulting and system integration within the Lufthansa Group.  Mr. Focke (51) is an engineering graduate and has headed Lufthansa Cargo’s Operation division since March 1st, 2022, where he was responsible for Global Handling Management, Flight Operations, Security, and most of Lufthansa Cargo’s equity investments.


In Friday’s announcement, Lufthansa Cargo AG’s Chairman of the Supervisory Board and Chief Human Resources of the Lufthansa Group, Dr. Michael Niggemann, said,


“With his extensive experience in aviation and logistics as well as the management of large business units, Dietmar Focke has continued to lead Lufthansa Cargo into the future as part of the Executive Board team and has made a significant contribution to the further development and modernization of Lufthansa Cargo.  We would like to thank him for the good cooperation, and we are pleased that he continues his career within the Lufthansa Group as Managing Director of Lufthansa Industry Solutions.  We wish him every success for his new role.”


Some of Dietmar Focke’s recent accomplishments include the continuation of the comprehensive LCC Evolution infrastructure program, including the development and renewal of the Frankfurt logistics center, as well as the successful expansion of the A321 Freighter fleet to four aircraft.  Over the last 12 months, he was also instrumental in the development of an e-commerce product for Lufthansa Cargo.


Mr. Focke began his career in 2001 as a product engineer at Lufthansa Technik.  He then held positions in Strategy & Business Development and Airframe Related Components in Hamburg, before moving to Ameco in China, where he was responsible for aircraft overhaul from 2010 through 2014.  Dietmar Focke then became the CEO of Lufthansa Technik Base Maintenance in Budapest, Hungary until 2019.  Prior to Joining Lufthansa Cargo, he was responsible for Commercial Engine Services at Lufthansa Technik.
