On Thursday (September 18, 2025), Delta Air Lines announced the premiere of their centennial documentary film, ‘A Century of Flight,’ which premiered at the iconic Fox Theatre in Atlanta on Monday, September 15, 2025. The premiere was attended by thousands of Delta people and community members who screened the 45-minute documentary directed by Academy-Award nominee Joshua Seftel of Smartypants Pictures. The film tells the story of Delta’s 100-year climb and how the airline rose from humble beginnings as a crop-dusting company to a leader in global aviation. The story is told by Delta team members at every level, including past and present Delta CEOs Ed Bastian, Gerald “Jerry” Grinstein and Richard Anderson.
In Thursday’s announcement, Delta Air Lines’ CEO, Ed Bastian, said,
“The story told in this film belongs to every Delta employee as well as the millions of customers who have been part of our 100-year journey. It’s a story of resilience, courage and the relentless drive to always keep climbing.”
Guests arriving at Monday’s premiere were greeted by uniformed brand ambassadors and offered movie-themed snacks and beverages as they mingled in the lobby before filing into the 4,600-seat theatre. Notable guests included former CEO Jerry Grinstein, Ambassador Andrew Young and a representative from the Office of Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens. During the screening, the entire room cheered and applauded throughout the film for Delta’s moments of triumph and the people at the heart of the airline’s success.
Following the screening, award-winning journalist Brooke Baldwin moderated a discussion with Delta’s CEO Ed Bastian and the film’s Director, Joshua Seftel, reflecting on Delta’s story and the creation of the film. A film two years in the making, Seftel admitted that he was nervous to show Bastian the first cut, but it exceeded expectations. The film is now available online here, and will be featured on Delta’s In-Flight Entertainment (IFE) system from November 1st, 2025.
