Delta Air Lines Launches New Nonstop Service Between New York-JFK and Catania in Sicily

Delta has launched new direct service between New York-JFK and Catania, marking the carrier’s first-ever flights to Sicily, and the only nonstop service between the U.S. and Catania.

On Thursday (May 22, 2025), Delta Air Lines announced the launch of new, exclusive nonstop service between New York-JFK and Catania in Sicily. The inaugural flight too to the skies on Wednesday (May 21st), marking Delta’s first-ever flight from Sicily, and the only direct connection between Catania and the U.S. The route will operate daily with a 216-seat Boeing 767-300ER featuring Delta One, Delta Premium Select, Delta Comfort and Delta Main cabins. Nestled on the eastern coast of Sicily beneath the towering presence of Mount Etna, Catania is rich in history, culture and natural beauty, offering vibrant markets and baroque architecture, and world-renowned cuisine.
In Thursday’s announcement, Delta’s SVP for Europe, the Middle East, Africa and India, Matteo Curcio, said,
“Catania will be the fifth Italian city served by Delta from the U.S., along with Rome, Milan, Venice and Naples. Sicily is a highly sought-after destination and many Italian Americans have strong bonds with this wonderful Italian region. We are convinced that our service will benefit the region’s economy with regards to incoming tourism, as well as offering great connectivity to the U.S. for Sicilians.”
Inbound customers to Delta’s New York-JFK hub will enjoy seamless one-stop connectivity to destinations across North America, including Los Angeles, Miami, Chicago, and beyond. For summer 2025, Delta will operate up to 110 weekly flights between the U.S. and Italy, a 15 percent increase compared to summer 2024.
