On Tuesday (June 17, 2025), Delta Air Lines celebrated the launch of their inaugural flight between Salt Lake City (SLC) and Seoul-Incheon Airport (ICN) in South Korea, opening a brand new gateway between the American West and Asia.  Prior to departure, guests enjoyed an inaugural celebration at Salt Lake City Airport, which was filled with music, culture, and a shared sense of what the new route represents.  The festivities began with remarks from Salt Lake City Mayor Erin Mendenhall, who stood alongside Delta Air Lines’ Managing Director – Airport Customer Service, Meng Aguirre, and SLC airport officials.

In Tuesday’s announcement, Delta Air Lines’ Vice President – Asia Pacific, Jeff Moomaw, said,

“With the launch of this new ICN–SLC route, Delta offers customers in Asia even greater access to our growing global network.  Thanks to our strong joint venture partnership with Korean Air, most U.S. destinations are now within easy reach from Seoul via nonstop or one-stop service.”

Prior to departure, a ceremonial ribbon cutting marked the official opening of the route, followed by the boarding of Delta’s special centennial Airbus A350 aircraft.  Guests were then welcomed aboard with Korean-language entertainment, traditional meal options, and Korean-speaking flight attendants.  Developed in partnership with fellow SkyTeam member Korean Air, the new route enhances access to destinations across Asia and underscores Delta’s dedication to expanding trans-Pacific connectivity.
