On Friday (July 25, 2025), China Airlines announced the launch of new nonstop service between Taipei and Phoenix, Arizona, becoming the first Asian carrier to fly to the emerging tech hub. Starting December 3, 2025, the route will operate three times weekly with an Airbus A350-900, departing Taipei on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. Flight CI036 will depart Taoyuan International Airport in Taipei at 10:55, and arrives in Phoenix at 08:00 local time. The return flight, CI035, departs Phoenix at 11:55, makes a stopover in Los Angeles at 12:20, before continuing onto Taipei and arriving at 21:30+1 (all times local). To celebrate the launch of the new route, limited time Economy Class return fares on the Taipei-Phoenix route are now available for booking from TWD 22,790 or US $773 (before tax).
Phoenix is the largest city in the state of Arizona, and features dramatic desert landscape, a distinctive Native American culture, spectacular natural scenery and cultural diversity. Located in the American Southwest, Phoenix serves as a convenient hub to other spectacular natural wonders, including the Grand Canyon, Antelope Canyon, and Horseshoe Bend. China Airlines’ inbound customers to Phoenix can also enjoy seamless one-stop connectivity to other destinations through the carrier’s partner, Southwest Airlines, which offers over 30 flights per hour for Phoenix during peak periods. Customers traveling on a joint China Airlines and Southwest itinerary will enjoy the convenience of luggage checked-through to their final destination.
Since entering the market over 50 years ago, China Airlines has continued to steadily grow their presence in North America. Phoenix will become the carrier’s seventh direct North American destination, joining New York, Los Angeles, Ontario, San Francisco and Seattle in the U.S., as well as Vancouver in Canada, with 40 return flights each week. China Airlines also plans to increase the frequency on the New York route, and will become a tenant of The New Terminal One at JFK Airport, where innovative technologies will be integrated to provide travelers with an elevated experience from 2026.
