China Airlines Celebrates Inaugural Flight Between Taipei and Seattle

China Airlines celebrated the launch of their inaugural flight between Taipei and Seattle with the touch down of flight CI022 on Sunday (July 14th).  Seattle joins the carrier’s other North American gateways, including Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York and Vancouver.

On Monday (July 15, 2024), China Airlines announced the launch of their inaugural flight between Taipei and Seattle with the arrival of flight CI022 in Seattle, which was greeted with a traditional water cannon salute.  China Airlines’ President, Kao Shing-Hwang personally flew onboard the inaugural flight and attended the celebrations in Seattle.  The new North American gateway joins the carrier’s existing service to Los Angeles (Ontario) in California, San Francisco, New York and Vancouver.  Service between Taipei and Seattle will initially operate five time weekly, with plans to increase to daily frequency with the delivery of new aircraft in the future.


The new Taipei-Seattle route will operate with an Airbus A350-900.  On the inaugural flight departing Taipei, guests in all cabins were served cuisine from Les Palais, the Michelin-3-star restaurant.  The all-new July menu features Lo Mein with Abalone, Shiitake and Seasonal Vegetables, Deep Fried Rice Noodles with Leaf Mustard and Duck Julienne served with Stir-Fried Prawn, as well as Braised Portuguese Chicken Rice, and Black Oolong Peach Bread. 


Premium Business Class guests onboard the inaugural flight were offered the choice of mains including Caramelized Onion U.S. Prime Filet Beef Tenderloin with mashed Potatoes, Broiled Creamy Lobster with Capellini, Chicken, Chicken and Abalone with Oyster Sauce served with Wild Fried Rice, along with Seattle’s famous Seafood Chowder.  Premium Economy Class customers were offered a choice of main dishes, including Boeuf Bourguignon wit Mashed Potatoes or Shrimp and Celery with Rice.  The main dish choices in Economy Class included Teriyaki Chicken Rice and Taiwanese Braised Pork Rice.  For dessert, guests in all classes were treated with chocolates from Fran’s and Jcoco in Seattle.

Operating to/from North America for over half a century, China Airlines currently offers over 40 weekly return flights between Taiwan and North America.  Inbound customers to Taipei  from North America and Southeast Asia can also enjoy seamless one-stop connectivity to nearly 400 weekly China Airlines’ flights to/from Vietnam, the Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand and Hong Kong.


China Airlines has also partnered with ‘Moroccanoil’, a global leader in oil-infused beauty products for amenities such as hand wash, moisturizer, and fragrant sprays, which will progressively be rolled out on all routes from July 2024.  Premium Business Class guests on long-haul flights will also receive an amenity kit from the luxury fashion brand Moschino, while Premium Economy customers will receive an outdoor-style comfort kit from Roots.  Additionally, Business Class guests will enjoy newly upgraded ultralight over-the-ear noise canceling headphones, providing a comfortable listening experience, even over extended periods.
