Cathay Group to Offer Nearly 300 Weekly Return Flights to Chinese Mainland for Summer 2025

Cathay Pacific has today announced an expansion of their summer 2025 network between Hong Kong and the Chinese Mainland with up to 300 weekly return flights to 20 destinations.

On Thursday (March 27, 2025), Cathay Pacific announced an expansion of their network between Hong Kong and the Chinese Mainland. For summer 2025, the Group will operate nearly 300 weekly return flights to 20 Chinese Mainland destinations. Cathay will offer seven daily return flights to Beijing Capital International Airport, as well as daily service to Beijing Daxing International Airport operated by HK Express, for a total of 56 weekly returns to Beijing. Service to Shanghai will increase to eight daily return flights to Shanghai Pudong International Airport, as well as 11 weekly returns to Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport, for a total of 67 weekly returns.
In Thursday’s announcement, Cathay’s Chief Customer and Commercial Officer, Lavinia Lau, said,
“We are delighted to be expanding our flight schedule in the Chinese Mainland this summer with services to 20 passenger destinations and increased frequencies on many of our popular routes. With our unique position of having deep roots in Hong Kong, being proudly part of China, and connecting the world, we are committed to providing a seamless travel experience for our customers whether they are flying to, from or via our home hub.”
Additionally, flights to Zhengzhou, Ningbo, Haikou, and Chongqing will increase from four weekly return flights to daily service, with HK Express also operating daily flights to Ningbo this summer. Service to Hangzhou will also increase to four daily return flights, while flights to Nanjing will increase to twice daily. Flights to Wenzhou and Wuhan will also increase to 10 and 12 weekly, respectively.
Starting April 28, 2025, Cathay Pacific will also be launching new nonstop service between Hong Kong and Urumqi. As previously mentioned, together with HK Express, the Cathay Group will operate close to 300 weekly returns between Hong Kong and the Chinese Mainland during the peak summer 2025 season. Additionally, the Group will add 13 new destinations to their network this year, with Cathay Pacific adding flights to Hyderabad, Dallas, Urumqi, Rome, Munich and Brussels, and HK Express adding service to Sendai, Nha Trang, Ishigaki, Komatsu, Cheongju, Daegu and Miyako (Shimojishima).
