Cathay Group has placed an incremental order for 32 Airbus A320neo Family jets, as the carrier continues to modernize and expand their fleet. The additional jets include both the A320neo and A321neo models and will join the Cathay Pacific and HK Express fleets.
On Friday (September 29, 2023), Airbus announced that Hong Kong-based Cathay Group has placed an order for 32 Airbus A320neo Family aircraft, including A320neos and A321neos, which will join the fleets of Cathay Pacific and HK Express. The new aircraft are part of the Group's fleet modernization and expansion strategy and will primarily be deployed on routes to/from the Chinese Mainland and other Asian destinations.
In Friday’s announcement, Airbus’ Chief Commercial Officer and Head of Airbus International, Christian Scherer, said,
“Cathay is one of the world’s leading airline Groups and we are proud to be part of its recovery and growth plan. Operating out of the Cathay Group’s base at the heart of Asia, the A320neo family will enable it to expand its services across the region with a most efficient single aisle fleet and a positive passenger comfort differentiation. With a significant reduction in fuel consumption, the aircraft will also bring an immediate contribution to the Cathay Group’s sustainability goals.”
The Airbus A320neo Family combines the latest technologies, new generation engines, Sharklets and state-of-the art aerodynamics to deliver a reduced fuel burn of at least 20 percent and CO2 emission savings. Having received over 9,700 orders from more than 130 customers, the A320neo Family is the most popular single-aisle aircraft in the
world.
