Caribbean Airlines Announces CEO Transition

Caribbean Airlines has announced the resignation of the carrier’s Chief Executive Officer, Garvin Madera, effective immediately.  He will be succeeded by Nirmala Ramai, who will serve as Acting CEO.

On Monday (October 13, 2025), Caribbean Airlines announced the resignation of their Chief Executive Officer, Garvin Madera, effective immediately.  On an interim basis, Mr. Madera will be succeeded by the company’s Chief Operating Officer, Nirmala Ramai, who will serve as Acting CEO.  Under the guidance of the Board, she will work closely with the Senior Leadership Team to support the airline through this transition.  Caribbean Airlines’


Board thanks Mr. Medera for his years of service and leadership and wishes him the very best in his future endeavors.


In Monday’s announcement, Caribbean Airlines’ former CEO, Garvin Madera, said,


I want to take this opportunity to thank all the employees of Caribbean Airlines who have done such a fantastic job over the past few years, facing some very difficult challenges and being their best, time and again, for each other and our passengers.  Also, thanks to partners for their support and commitment and customers for their trust and loyalty.  I wish everyone well.”


With over 34 years in airline operations, including 20+ in senior leadership roles, Nirmala Ramai is a seasoned executive known for driving operational excellence, customer experience, and organizational transformation.  Ms. Nirmala has led cross-functional teams in business process re-engineering and the launch of new products and enhanced service offerings.  She holds a B.A. from the University of the West Indies, postgraduate diplomas in HR Management and Business Administration from the Arthur Lok Jack Graduate School of Business and the Edinburgh Business School, Scotland, along with a certificate in International Aviation Management from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
