On Monday (February 3, 2025), Brussels Airlines announced the debut of their new reality show, ‘Welkom Aan Boord’, which will premiere February 9, 2025, on VTM.  Filmed over several months, the program showcases what really happens behind the scenes at the airline.  Over several months, Geronimo Entertainment followed Brussels Airlines’ team members both on the ground and in the air, capturing their experiences.  Welkom Aan Boord will air every Sunday on VTM, and will also be available on VTMGO.  In the show, the daily work of cabin crew, pilots, ground staff, and aircraft technicians is showcased, with the hope of inspiring more people to pursue an aviation career.

In Monday’s announcement, Brussels Airlines’ Head of Customer Experience, Product & Marketing, Wencke Lemmes, said,

“We provide a unique behind-the-scenes look.  What does it take to care for our passengers in and around the airplane?  Many wonder about the tasks and responsibilities of the colleagues on board and at the airport.  We show both the appealing and less appealing sides of our colleagues' daily jobs.  For example, it’s exciting to regularly travel abroad for work, but night flights, long days, and challenging situations are also part of the job.”

Also commenting on the new reality show, VTM’s Channel Director, Davy Parmentier, said,

“A lot of people travel by plane. But the cockpit remains strictly off-limits to passengers at all times.  It is there that crucial decisions are made—the beating heart of the aircraft, so to speak. We are delighted that, together with VTM, we can open that door for the first time and give viewers an exclusive look into a world that truly captures the imagination.  At the same time, we follow the cabin crew during the flight, offering a behind-the-scenes glimpse into their work as well.  We are very grateful that the pilots and cabin crew of Brussels Airlines are willing to share their stories about their lives, jobs, passion, and dedication.”

Geronimo Entertainment’s CEO, Emanuel Vanderjeugd, added,

“There have been programs about airports in the past, but they usually stop at the airplane door. What we wanted to know is: what happens next?  What’s it like to lead a long-haul flight or prepare meals for hundreds of passengers at cruising altitude?  That journey of discovery was often incredibly fascinating.”
