On Friday (August 30, 2021), British Airways announced the reopening of their flagship Galleries Club Lounge at New York JFK’s Terminal 7 from Sunday August 1st, 2021. The news follows the decision by the UK Government to allow fully-vaccinated U.S. travelers to enter the UK from August 2nd without having to quarantine. The reopening of the JFK lounge is part of the airline’s phased lounge reopening plan and will be available for guests flying from JFK in First and World Club. Customers will enjoy an enhanced check-in experience at the exclusive Premium Zone and the First Wing and First check-in are also available.

In Friday’s announcement, British Airways’ Director of Brand and Customer Experience, Tom Stevens, said,

“After the news about the change in entry requirements for US customers in to the UK, we expect to host more customers who need to travel and so we have decided that it is the right time to open our flagship lounge in New York. We are looking forward to welcoming some of our American customers back to London from next week and bringing Britons who reside in the US home for much-needed family time.”

British Airways’ lounge guests will also be able to use the airline’s new digital ‘Your Menu’ app to order food directly from their mobile device after scanning a QR code. The app is available throughout the lounge, so customers can select from a wide range of food and beverage options from wherever they are seated. Prior to their return flight from London, customers can also enjoy the Club and First lounges at Heathrow’s Terminal 5, including access to the new ‘Forty Winks’ sleep zone. Domestically, British Airways also recently opened lounges in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen. For a walk-through video of the JFK Club lounge, click here.
