British Airways Protects Tier Status For Loyal Executive Club Members

British Airways will protect Tier status for Executive Club members whose Tier Point collection date falls between July 1st and December 31, 2021 for an extra 12 months. As a result, no Bronze, Silver or Gold card holders will lose their status in 2021.

On Tuesday (March 9, 2021), British Airways announced that they will continue to protect Tier status for Executive Club members. For members whose Tier Point collection end date falls between July 1st and December 31, 2021, their Tier status will be protected for an additional 12 months. The further extension follows a one year extension announced last June, meaning that no British Airways Executive Club member, including Bronze, Silver and Gold card holders will lose Tier status in 2021. The extra 12 month extension on Tier expiration date will be updated in Executive Club accounts this week.

In Tuesday’s announcement, the Head of British Airways Executive Club, Niall Rooney, said,

As we await the Government’s decision in April and plan for the safe restart of travel as soon as possible, we want to thank our Executive Club members for their loyalty during the most difficult time in the airline’s history. We know many of our members haven’t been able to travel, but today’s news means they can keep their benefits for longer and use them when they’re able to fly again. We hope this complements a number of measures we’ve already introduced, including our book with confidence commitment, which provides flexibility and reassurance for our customers.”

The Tier status extension announced today means that qualifying British Airways Executive Club Members have received two years of protection. In February, British Airways announced a six month extension of Executive Club vouchers which were set to expire on December 31, 2021, following similar extensions in March and October 2020 that included Gold Upgrade Vouchers and American Express Companion Vouchers. The airline is also adding and additional six month validity extension to all new Corporate Voucher or Travel Together tickets earned between June and December 2021. Finally, British Airways continues to reduce the number of Tier Points needed to reach each Tier by 25 percent for members whose Tier Points collection year ends before July 2022.
