British Airways will extend service from Belfast to Exeter, Glasgow and Leeds for the winter season. The carrier will also operate up to three daily services between Belfast and Birmingham and will launch new service to Salzburg from London City and Southampton.
On Thursday (September 9, 2021), British Airways announced the extension of their winter 2021/22 UK schedule. The carrier will extend three of their newest domestic routes from Belfast to Exeter, Glasgow and Leeds, while offering two daily flights between Belfast and Birmingham, increasing to thrice-daily on Thursdays and Fridays. Weekly flights from Belfast to Exeter, Glasgow and Leeds will be increased to 4, 13, and 10 weekly, respectively. British Airways has also launched new service to Salzburg from both London City and Southampton. Flights from London City will operate twice weekly from December 10th, while Southampton-Salzburg flights will be offered once weekly on Saturdays starting December 11, 2021. The additional services will be operated with a BA CityFlyer Embraer E190.
In Thursday’s announcement, BA CityFlyer’s Managing Director, Tom Stoddart, said,
“This year has shown how much customers want to stay connected with the rest of the UK. We’re responding to the customer demand we saw over the last few months by extending some of our newest UK routes from Belfast City Airport.”
Also commenting on the extended UK winter schedule, Belfast City Airport’s Commercial Director, Katy Best, added,
“British Airways has a longstanding presence at Belfast City Airport, and its introduction of regional services earlier this year has been strongly welcomed by our passengers who know and enjoy the excellent BA product. This latest increase in frequency is superb news for those who want to plan ahead and book winter staycations or weekend breaks in Birmingham, Exeter, Glasgow or Leeds. The convenient flight times will also be attractive to business travellers who avail of can same day returns.”
All new and extended flight are now available for booking for travel from October 31, 2021 and March 26, 2022. Customers booking travel with British Airways can do so with complete confidence, as the carrier offers a flexible booking policy. Bookings can be exchanged for a voucher and travel dates can be moved without change fees. The airline also offers a range of other flexible booking options as part of their Customer Promise.
