On Monday (September 20, 2021), British Airways announced further protection of Executive Club Member Tier status as well as other exclusive member benefits. Starting today, any tiered Executive Club member with a Tier Point collection date between January and March 2022 will receive another year at their current tier status. As a result of the status extension, no British Airways Executive Club Member renewing over this period, including Bronze, Silver and Gold members, will lose their Tier status, regardless of the number of Tier Points earned.

In Monday’s announcement, British Airways’ Loyalty Manager, Niall Rooney, said,

“We want to thank our customers for their continued loyalty. Many of our Executive Club Members haven’t had the chance to use their benefits as normal, by further extending their Tier Status, none of them will miss out on the amazing benefits they have earned. For our Members that have a flight booked, we are proud to be launching more benefits. From today, our Silver and Gold Members can enjoy more from our award-winning lounges.”

British Airways has also launched new benefits for some of their most loyal Executive Club Members who are taking an upcoming flight. All Silver and Gold Members (regardless of ticket type), can enjoy preflight dining at select North American lounges, including New York-JFK, Boston, Chicago and Washington, D.C. Additionally, Gold List Members will have access to the exclusive Concorde Room at London Heathrow Terminal 5 or New York-JFK, regardless of how many Tier points earned in the previous collection year.

As previously announced, British Airways has granted a six-month extension on all Executive Club vouchers set to expire before December 31, 2021, including Gold Upgrade Vouchers and American Express Companion Vouchers. The carrier is also adding an additional six months of validity to all new Companion Voucher or Travel Together tickets earned from June 2020 through December 31, 2021. Currently, the reduced number of Tier Points needed to reach Bronze status is 225 Tier Points or 18 eligible flights, while Silver status requires 450 points or 37 eligible flights and Gold status requires 1125 Tier Points.
