On Tuesday (September 17, 2024), Breeze Airways announced the launch of new service between Ogdensburg, New York (OGS) and Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD).  This is the carrier’s very first service to be operated under the U.S. Department of Transportation's Essential Air Service (EAS) program, which subsidizes commuter flights on thin routes.  Breeze’s daily Ogdensburg-Dulles flights will start on September 27th, with one-way fares from $45 (T&Cs apply).  Washington Dulles and Ogdensburg will become the 65th and 66th destinations added to the carrier’s rapidly growing network.  Breeze is also adding three previously unserved routes from Washington D.C., including Salt Lake City-Provo, Utah, South Bend, Indiana, and Vero Beach, Florida.

In Wednesday’s announcement, Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority’s Vice President, Paul Bobson, said,

“We are excited for Breeze Airways to become the 45th airline at Washington Dulles International.  Breeze will give local travelers access to three previously unserved markets from the Washington, D.C., region while bringing nonstop service back to upstate New York.  With these new flights, Dulles will reinforce its position as the airport with the most nonstop destinations of any airport in the region.”

Also commenting on the new routes, Breeze Airways’ Founder and CEO, David Neeleman, said,

“As we connect more unserved city pairs, Breeze is expanding its premium leisure low cost product to more communities.  With a great Guest experience, including elevated seating options and fast Wi-Fi, and added affordability, Breeze is allowing Guests to more conveniently travel to markets they’ve never seen with nonstop service.  These new routes to Dulles will be a huge boost not only for our network, but for Ogdensburg, Provo, South Bend, and Vero Beach.”

Guests traveling with Breeze will enjoy an elevated travel experience onboard the carrier’s brand new Airbus A220-300s, which feature premium seating options, and high speed Wi-Fi.  Breeze offers both bundled and a la carte fare options, so customers can customize an experience to meet their needs.  Fare bundles include full flexibility, and other ancillaries such as bags seats and Wi-Fi.  Additionally, Breeze doesn’t charge cancellation fees up to 60 minutes before departure, and other benefits like free family seating, up to 24-months of reusable flight credit and customized flight features delivered via a simple customer-friendly app.
