Breeze Airways to Launch New Service From Springfield, Illinois to Orlando and Tampa

Breeze Airways will start new service from Springfield, Illinois to both Orlando and Tampa from December 1st and 4th, respectively. Both routes will operate twice weekly with introductory one-way fares are now available for booking from $49.

On Tuesday (September 19, 2023), Breeze Airways announced the launch of new twice-weekly service from Springfield, Illinois to both Orlando and Tampa in Florida. Starting December 1st, the carrier will offer flights from Springfield to Orlando on Mondays and Fridays, which will switch to Wednesdays and Saturdays from January 10, 2024. Service from Springfield to Tampa will operate on Mondays and Fridays starting December 4, 2023. Introductory one-way fares on both routes are now bookable from $49. To qualify for the low fares, tickets must be booked by September 25, 2023 for travel by April 30, 2024.


In Tuesday’s announcement, Breeze Airways’ President, Tom Doxey, said,


“Springfield will be our first airport served in Illinois, and it’s joining the network with two great nonstop routes right from the jump. Breeze is all about adding service to underserved markets and city pairs, and we can’t wait to give the community of Springfield some new destinations with Breeze’s added convenience, affordability, and flexibility.”


Also commenting on Breeze’s launch of service from Illinois, Springfield Airport Authority’s Chairman of the Board of Commissioners, Frank J. Vala, said,


“We are extremely excited to be the first airport in Illinois to welcome Breeze Airways with non-stop service from Springfield’s Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport to Orlando International and Tampa International Airports. Breeze’s commitment to Springfield, demonstrates the confidence they have in our community to support these new routes and to grow as new opportunities become available. We thank Breeze for providing our community convenient and direct access to these two popular Florida destinations; we look forward to great success.”


The new routes will be operated with a state-of-the-art Airbus A220-300 featuring three seating options, Nice, Nicer and Nicest. Breeze Ascent is included in the Nicest bundle and features a recliner-style seat in a two-by-two configuration with a generous 39 inch pitch and a 20.5-inch seat with, along with special amenities such as complimentary snacks and drinks, including alcohol. Ascent can also be booked a-la-carte with Nice or Nicer. Breeze does not charge change or cancellation fees up to 15 minutes prior to departure, and offers other benefits such as free family seating, along with flight credits that can be used up to 24 months.
